Pt-53TW53 service mode problem

yes, I have read the FAQ and followed the links about how to get to service mode. The problem is with one step of the procedure to get service menu. All teh guides say: set mode to cable
set timer to 30
press action twice to get out of the menu
go to channel 124, set volume to zero and press volume down

but in the menu, after I set time to 0 and mode to cable, Only way to get out of the menu is pressing channel up button. Pressing action twice doesnt get me out of the menu.. If I use channel up to get out of the menu, in channel 124; setting volume to 0 and pressing volume doesnt doesnt show service menu ( Or CHK label)..

Are you pressing volume down on the remote or the TV? You need to press volume down on the TV - I have the same TV.
Does not matter if you hit action button twice or just use the channel up button after setting the timer to 30. Set it to 30, hit action, then channel up. Then change to channel 124, then ON THE TV, hit the volume down button - you should see some numbers on the top of the TV. You can then change the channel to see a picture and hit power button on the remote. Then you will be in the service menu. JUST MAKE SURE YOU WRITE DOWN THE NUMBERS before making any changes.
