I was just wondering if anyone has gotten around to trying out iTunes new Movie Download service and if so, how do these movies look on HDTVs? They are encoded at 640x480 as opposed to the 720x480 of DVDs so I'm just wondering how they hold up then placed on an HDTV. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!

They would probably look no better than broadcast SDTV on an HDTV.

That would be a fair assertion, however; i'm looking for a first hand account. Thanks for the comment.

Fair enough... but the numbers speak for themselves, right?

Again, I agree. However, let me reiterate: I'm looking for a first hand account. Thanks

I'm not trying to be facetious, but using the term "probably" and ending a phrase with "right?," seems to hint at the fact that you did not have the facts in order to make such a comment. For example, by simply stating "Cogito, ergo sum." does not necessarily mean that a person has the intellectual capacity to support such a statement. :)
Please excuse the horribly dry sense of humor here....;)

I was trying to stimulate one's thought process to logically deduce (on their own) that 640x480 will look exactly like NTSC. Which we all know how that appears on "our" HDTV's.
If I were to have just stated in post #2, "It looks like NTSC", would that have sufficed?
Probably not. Right? ;)
