i bought the Samsung 5053 and am very happy with it.
i subscribe to Comcast for my cable, and the new box we got from them has HDMI hookup as well as component.
i like the HDMI as there are much less wires, but my son hooked it up and says with HDMI we can't get the proper rez......something like it won't go above 480i or P..........he says with component cables it works fine.........shouldn't the box work the same with either hookups?

component = analog
HDMI = digital
480i = analog
tv doesn't support 480i over analog

With either Component or HDMI you should be able to set it up to the proper rez.
Check this link in the FAQ's for infor on the MOTO.

You'll find it in the guide but once you have the STB connected the way you want, leave you set on but turn off the STB and quickly hit menu on your remote. You will bring up the menu that allows you to set tv size, resolution and 4:3 override.

480i = analog480i is not analogue, it's a format and can be digital or analogue. Some HDTVs simply don't accept 480i over HDMI (some Samsungs for example). Lots of HDTVs do accept 480i.
