Hello all...I just purchased the kd34xbr970 last week. I notice a very thin horizontal line about 3-4 inches from the top, and it's running all the way across the screen. I can't really notice it from far away, and I notice it a lot more with a bright scene and when I'm sitting closer to the set. Does anyone else have this issue? I'm not sure if it's a defect with the set or just how sony's picture tube is. If anyone has this tv, can you please check for it, with a lighter scene and let me know if you have this horizontal line on your set? Does anyone know of this issue? Any help would be appreciated!
This are the wires that hold up the aperture grill. There will be another line the same distance from the bottom, or perhaps two more.
If you read the operating manual, they are mentioned there. This is normal.

Thank you so much for the link, that really helped a lot! Another question though...are there any settings that you are aware of that will help me achieve the most accurate picture? I'm more interested in what the NTSC standard is, not just some kind of bright and colorful artificial image. Right now, I've turned the color axis setting to monitor, and I'm running my tv in pro mode with contrast, brightness, color, and tint running at half. My sharpness is down to 25. I also have turned of Clearedge VM. IS there anything else that can improve my picture quality?

Read the HDTV FAQ "What you need to do to your new HDTV". Have you tried DVE/ Avia? From what I hear they are both great (I have only used DVE, so I can't say that Avia is good). They will help you dial in most all of the "user settings". You could get your set calibrated by an ISF technician (usually around $200-300... at least the quotes I've gotten here). They will go into the service menu and do a full grey scale calibration. DO NOT GO INTO YOUR SERVICE MENU UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING! YOU CAN MAKE YOUR SET INOPERABLE.
Seriously, go read the FAQs. Read every title, and then read the actual thread for everything you need to know. If you still have questions, then come back.
