View Full Version : Shimmering lines?

I get a shimmering or crawling effect with straight lines or narrow bars, only horizontal I think). Mainly on thin lines and red is the worst, but it occurs with other colors too. What is this? Something set too high, poor focus?

On a Tosh 50HDX82 viewing either satellite or even HD feed from a Sammy 165. Haven't viewed many DVD's yet, so I don't know if it does it there or not.

I would suggest that perhaps lowering the 'sharpness' setting on the TV may help. Also, if you can disable SVM (some call it VSM), that may help also.

Sorry, forgot to post settings. Sharpness is around 30 and all automatic settings are off.

Ratman is probably onto something. I know without accessing the designer menu you cannot completely disable the VSM/SVM on Toshiba televisions, though an easy fix is to switch your television to the "Movie" or "Cinema" mode and then adjust all of your Brightness/Contrast/Color settings to your own preference.

The "Movie" mode will turn the television's VSM/SVM to LOW as compared to the HIGH setting that it leaves on all the other different modes.

Yep, did my adjustments from Movie mode and then set the VSM to "off", assuming it really is off with that setting!
