Does anyone have experience with Yamaha's YHT-700 system? I am considering purchasing the system for use with my Hitachi 51uwx20b. Any problems with connection, features, etc.? What are some other home theater systems <$1,000 that I should consider? I'm fairly new to HDTV and would greatly appreciate anyone's comments/advice. Thanks.
If you are going to get a HTIB (Home theatre in a box), you may wish to consider a separate DVD player, not one that's integrated. This will give you better quality, for very little more money. Other systems from Denon and Kenwood may be worth considering....
Check out the features, the sound, the ergonomics, etc.

I agree ... separate components are better quality and do not cost much more money.
I am partial to YAMAHA, ONKYO, and DENON receivers.

Yeah, I was wondering about quality of HTIB vs. seperates. Why does an integrated DVD provide an inferior picture?
Is it important to have component connections available on a receiver? A lot of the receivers I have been looking at do not have any component connections.
Thanks for the responses.
Unless you buy a relatively good receiver with "wideband" component inputs (the kind that will pass HD signals), then the component video inputs on the back of the receiver are not worth much, so you're not missing much if you're buying an "entry level" system...

MY BROTHER BOUGHT THE ONKYO 650 HTIB. THINK ITS RUNNING FOR ABOUT $499.00 AT CC RIGHT NOW. THATS AN AWESOME SOUNDING HTIB. YOU'LL BE AMAZED AT THE SOUND THIS SET PUTS OUT. BEATS MORE EXPENSIVE HTIB'S I'VE HEARD WITH THE PLASTIC SATELLITES THAT COST TWICE AS MUCH.

I ended up buying that exact system at CC. I wasn't impressed with the Yamahas I listened to. The Onkyo sounds great. I bought an Onkyo 5 disc DVD player at the same time. Picture and sound are awesome. Receiver, DVD, and speakers all for under $1,000 - not too bad! Now all I need is a good universal remote and I'll be set!
