I have my DirectTV H20 piped directly into my TV. Using component for the video but composite wires for the sound. I watched some recorded network shows and the sound seemed to be off from the video. Sound and lips seemed a little delayed. My question is with this set up would the optical cable improve anything over the composite wires? Is there such a lateny when using composite wires for sound?

See post 2 of the following thread. I assume you mean digital coaxial cable?

See the HDTV FAQ "Cables & connections".

Thanks for the read. I have optical cables for sound? No coax cables unless the red & white RCA cables could be included in that. For the sound from the TivO its white and red cables. I'm thinking that if I used the optical cable for sound I may improve the sync issues. It did seem to be on one channel. I think ABC has Grey's Anatamy and the Shark. They were the two shows way out of sync.
