Not sure if this was posted yet.

$29 and up on PS3 games (http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2Faudio-video-portable-accessories%2Fb%3Fie%3DUTF8%26node%3D1065836&tag=dvdhd-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=9325)

Sony's pricing for PS3 games mirrors the XBOX 360

With the rising cost of game development, it was only a matter of time before the costs were passed onto the consumer. Higher resolution graphics means that more attention and effort must be placed into the artwork and more complex game engines require a greater amount of programming. It should come as no surprise, then, that PlayStation 3 games are to be priced $10-20 more than PlayStation 2 games.

While Sony has not made any official announcement concerning the average selling price of its PlayStation 3 software, everything is all but confirmed after browsing through Sony’s own e-commerce site. SonyStyle.com lists seven titles for pre-order: Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII, Tony Hawk Project 8, Call of Duty 3, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, Sonic the Hedgehog, Full Auto 2: Battlelines, and Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom.

Many XBOX 360 games already carry this next-generation price tag, although most first-party titles carry a $10 break at $49.99. Nintendo has also confirmed that its first-party games for the Wii will be under $50. While there is little information on whether or not third-party Wii games will come at a premium, a quick browse through Wal-Mart and Amazon shows that some third-party titles are sticking to $49.99. However, Activision’s cross-platform titles (Tony Hawk Project 8, Call of Duty 3, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance) all retail for $59.99 regardless of console.

This is just going to be the beginning of an all-out war between the consoles. Price cutting, technology updates, etc... its going to get crazy here in about 2 months... ;) .. should be fun!

i can't wait to sample the goods. according to a couple different forums the playable kiosks are going to hit Best Buy stores around Oct. 20. Lots of good reviews of the games coming out of the Tokyo Game Show last week. The F1 game looks AWESOME.......too bad the word is that it won't be sold in the US. luckily, with the region free status of the console, i might have to pick up an import version.

I remembered when I sampled the 360 is stores and i don't ever remember those consoles getting hot and shutting down!!!!! Unfortunately, i don't think any of the games that will be played outside of the home will be a good sample of what you will actually get. I've only now got a 360 that actually plays games without framerate issues/freezing/etc since I had MS put in all the newer components. Hopefully, the PS3 will have some of these problems accounted for but I'm not going to hold my breath, especially with all of the reports coming out of TGS that many of the PS3 games are seeing some horrific framerate problems. SAY IT AIN'T SO SONY!!! If I wasn't such a sucker for technology crap, I'd wait on the PS3. But that'll never happen! ;)

i read a lot of the good and bad about games.......but i don't remember seeing anyone going on about framerate problems with some games. of the videos i viewed, videos that were shot off of handheld cams, the ones i saw looked great (as great as they could off of cams).

but, of the ones that did, that is a developer issue, more likely than not. I doubt that many of the demos at TGS were final builds of the games. They got a month and a half to tweak and smooth things out.

i fully expect some problems with PS3. It's inevitable. Happened with PS2 at launch, happened with 360. Some will be due to morons misusing the console (saw so many posts on forums of idiots who repositioned the 360 from horizontal to vertical while playing a game!). others will be manufacturing defects. i remember when PS2 came out, there was a batch that had some sort of heat problem.......it was a limited number, but got bad press nonetheless. Same with 360. so i expect a few bumps. just hope it doesn't happen to me. i got lucky with ps2......got one launch week and it was perfect up until the day i needed one that would output progressive scan. then i traded it in and upgraded.

I'll have to scour the net and find those reports that I was reading from some of the reporters that saw some games with horrific framerates. I think it was joystiq and engadget that had a few stories about it. But I totally agree. Its all a matter of relativity. Relatively speaking, it will have the same problems as any other first-launch console would. As you stated, I REALLY hope that i don't get one of those! It will be fun to have both systems side by side for a direct comparison of aesthetics, visuals, and functionality. Should be fun!
