I am about ready to buy an HDTV from a local dealer here in Dallas/Ft Worth. I have decided on buying a 55" Mitsubishi Integrated HDTV, I believe their "Platinum". The model is WS-55511.
Anyhow, they have it listed for $2999, and I have spoke with them about wanting it at $2500. Is $2500 a good deal for this TV? Also, I can buy a 5 year extended warranty for another $299. Again, is this too much for a warranty?
Please let me know what you think guys. This is like buying a car. I know these guys deal off of the price. I don't want to be the smuck that paid too much. Thanks!

I can see that 17 people have read this. Come on, somebody give me just a sentence at the very least letting me know too high, or too low on the price.
Again, I am looking to buy a Mitsubishi 55" Integrated HD TV for $2499. Its their "Platinum" series. The exact model number is above.
I appreciate any and all responses. Thanks!

I don't know if its a good deal or not. But I will tell you what I paid for my Mits. I'm not sure if I got a good deal. Here are the details. Mits ws-55909 dimond set, delivered, with a 3 year extended home warranty for $3400.00. Hope this helps in some way.

I have the same tv and shopped it very hard. I paid $2,520 while most have it on sale at 2,999. You are getting a very good price and a very good HDTV. Most stores want more than 299 for 5 years so I would pull the trigger. Mine was good out of the box but I did get the avia and tweek the pix. Good luck, are you shopping at Home Theatre?? That is where I got mine in H-Town.
Good Luck!!

Yeah, I am looking to buy mine at the Home Theatre Store. I was kind of pissed when I left, because my salesmen just disagreed with me on everything I said ( I was wanting an HDTV ready set, not integrated). My salesman kept hammering me on getting the integrated set because there is alot of HD programming for free right now on the TV, and he was right.
After I did some researching, I figured out that there are a lot of things still needing to be worked out for HD broadcasting in cable and satellite. Besides, I am not forking out another grand to buy a special HD receiver and dish for hardly any channels, when there is more being sent over the airwaves for free. Now that I know a lot more, I really appreciate the rep trying to steer me in the right direction.
I'm sure I will eventually convert to some sort of HD satellite system, just not now while its so expensive with so little HD programming being offered.

I just checked with the local high end audio and video store, they had the tv listed for the same but would not budge that much on the price. That is indeed a great deal! It's right inthe ballpark.

Thanks for the info Matty. Its always nice when you can confirm with someone else who does not have a stake in your purchase that you are indeed getting a good deal.
