Do HDMI and Component cables both provide true High Definition TV 1080i or 720p?

What about when using HD-DVD or Blu-ray? Can use Component cables to view these too?

What about S-video can that provide 1080i or 720p?

composite and S-video = 480i only (standard def)
component, DVI, HDMI = 480p (enhanced def) and 720p, 1080i (high def).

So component cables are fine for seeing 1080p on a Blu-ray DVD. Its not necessary to use HDMI even though Component is still analog.

Not at this time, if the studios institute ICT=image constraint tokens it would require for you to use DVI (HDCP) or HDMI. At this time they do not intend to instute ICT's but may at a future time.

Also, you need a TV that can accept 1080p in the first place, the Toshiba you have in your signature can't.
