I've been looking at the Panasonic TH58PX600 plasma TV. (9th generation)
Has anyone got any comments about this set?
Thanks
Rick.

Panasonic Plasmas are very nice. I've tuned several of them.

Once you get it, make sure you set it up properly. See the HDTV FAQ "what you need to do to your new HDTV."

57U I see you have the 61UWX10B. I was first looking at the 55HDX99 Hitachi and while at the store, the panasonic TH58PX600 cought my eye. I felt the panasonic had the better picture ,then again I don't have a trained eye. I was wondering if you were aware of theses two different sets and could offer any oppinion as to which is the better of the two.
I would appreciate any advice you could pass along.
Thanks
Rick.

I've heard they're both good, althoughI have not seen the Hitachi. No opinion, sorry.

When I was going for this display type for a customer they picked the Panasonic 58" plasma because the 50" size was considered to be too small for their 13 x 20 foot room.
Reviewing what I have in person, including some professional reviewer's opinions, the Hitachi, though it offers a good overall picture, it is also 3" smaller in diagonal size and you must buy the stand extra, as it does not come with one and the Panasonic does.
If you are wall-mounting it (which very few of my clients do, BTW), the missing stand is a non-issue.
The reviews I have read regarding the Hitachi plasma sets seem to indicate good detail, but poorer contrast and colour over the Panasonic models.
Having seen both the 58" Panasonic next to the Hitachi 55" side-by-side featuring a ballgame on ESPN-HD, I agree, along with reds that were closer to orange, even with adjustments in the store with some salespersons I trust.
If I were you, I would buy the 58" Panasonic plasma set if you can and get it delivered and get the extended warranty, just in case (these are still more expensive to replace than RPTVs)...just my suggestions and experiences, here....good luck!
