Hi all,

I'm new here. Just found this site and found it very intresting. I currently own an older Mistubishi 55' t.v. One of the first "hdtv ready" sets produced. Anyway, it's starting to go out on me and I am looking to upgrade in the next 3-5 months. Unless it dies before that. I will be looking for advice from you guys. From what I've read many of you really informed on the new technologies coming out. Anyway, just wanted to say hi.

My advice is to go through the FAQ's here and elsewhere on the net to educate yourself about the new technologies out. You also need to decide on a price range and size to help limit the number of available choices down.

Good luck with your shopping, the forum FAQs are very helpful.
The only suggestion I can offer would be to start with the size of your current set and work from there.
If you like your current screen size, review the pros and cons of each display type, match that suits your viewing habits and needs and visit some stores.
Don't fall in love with the first display you see - even if it is the 55" set of your dreams.
Make your display type decision carefully as there are many more types of displays since your first HDTV-ready purchase awhile ago.
I find it easy to help others with their HDTV buying and setups, since many of them are first time buyers, but it took me some time to replace my aging 48" CRT RPTV from Mitsubishi, so I understand you completely.
