TV Noob- I have read the FAQ's, and done some research on TV types (LCD, Plasma). But the real problem I have is I really cant determine which best fits my needs. So I was hoping I could get some responses:

Comcast Cable Box with HDMI/DVR
Money to invest: $2300.00

1. The TV is always on - 8+ hrs a day (concern with burn in due to "on" time)
2. Watched Shows- everything (sports, cartoons, news, ticker tape)
3. Movies- tons on DVD movies
4. Space is limited "must be 42, and thin"
5. This is the main viewing TV in the house
6. No gaming on this TV
7. Obvious- want the best picture that shows TV and DVD movies

Thanks for the help in advance! :thankyou3

Based on your first 2 points:

1. The TV is always on - 8+ hrs a day (concern with burn in due to "on" time)
2. Watched Shows- everything (sports, cartoons, news, ticker tape)

An LCD would be a better choice. LCD's don't have burn in, and have a long lamp life (usually). As for the type of model, I'm not the guy to ask.

Without a doubt...look into LCD.

LCD flat panel meets your needs. The latest ones, like the Samsung 4041 have much better black levels and with the recent price drops should be under US$2000. You can buy the particular model I mentioned for C$2000.
Flat panels don't have bulbs.

I still recomend DLP also. Fits all the same reqs. the RP's are not that deep.
With the money you save you can buy a HD DVD player. Bulb replacement is about 200 dollars- Which you can get from an ESP provider like Mack.

You know I would have never said this in the past but I'd look at a plasma. The whole burn in thing used to steer me away from them but that doesn't seem to be an issue anymore. I'm thinking about buying the Hitachi 42HDS69 everything I've researched about it for the most part give it thumbs up.
