I just bought this television the other day, and I had my dvd player hooked up by the standard yellow video cable, which looked fine. I picked up a set of component cables for the dvd player and switched it to progressive scan. I have noticed one problem that i cant seem to fix no matter how much i mess around with the contrast/brightness ect.

There is noticable horizontal streaking caused by bright text when using the component video inputs, if i switch back to regular video cords, the lines go away. this is especially noticable on the blue screen with white writing on DVDs which display: This Motion Picture Has Been Rated... (such as the start of The Lord Of The Rings, or Master and Commander DVDs). The streaks/bands appear to be the inverted color of the bright text: on the blue screen above, the white writing causes darker bands across the width of the TV. I've read that other ppl have had this problem, and I need to know soon if i can fix it by adjusting the colors and what not in the menu to certain values, i need to know if it can be fixed soon, so i can still return it if i have to. PLEASE any help would be greatly appreciated,

See the HDTV FAQ "What you need to do to your new HDTV". Those streaks should go away with the TV properly set up (contrast and brightness set properly). For a start, I'd lower the contrast some and set the brightness so that the image is neither washed out, or so dark you can't see shadow details.

Make sure that you turn off any automatic settings that can impact contrast/brightness and use a mode like "movie" or "cinema" not "vivid".
