Panasonic PT53X54J-Crackling & White Spot

Hello all; I really hope I am posting this in the right place :)

A year ago, we purchased a Panasonic TV model #PT53X54J....tonight after we turned it off, there was a loud crackling/lightning type sound and I also noticed a faint white spot above the centre of the screen.....anyone have any ideas what is going on? I should probably get it serviced, right? Is it okay to let the kiddies watch tv tomorrow, or should we leave it off? Will it blow up on me? :zblowup:

Pannys had a propensity to "pop" which had an effect not unlike your situation.

I also noticed a faint white spot above the centre of the screen

It could have been the blue or green gun voltage regulator (vr's or pots) that may need to be readjusted.

Do you have a preponderance of any one color that you did not have before?

Red, green or blue?

Thanks for the reply! I don't see any other colors; just the white spot which is fairly faint and almost looks like a reflection. Interestingly, since Sudnay night, there haven't been any white spots or pops. I will check out the pannysite; thanks for the link...Meg :)
