I have a new Polaroid 32" LCD HDTV. Antenna is mounted in the attic per local rules, whole house wired with RG-6 cable. The TV received many HD channels perfectly for about 1.5 months and then I started having problems. Generally I cannot switch channels while watching HD. If I try to switch from one HD channel to another in the channel list, I get a black screen on the new channel, and all others, including the one I was just watching! I can watch any HD channel I want by "tuning" to the black screen, truning the set OFF for 30 sec and then turning it back ON, so the signal from the antenna must be good. This trick always works, but should not be required.
When I first started having this problem, I re-scanned for the channels, which was a real problem since this wiped out the entire previous channel list. In order to find any channels, I had to re-scan many times over many days until it finally found the channels. When it repeatedly found no channels, it would take 10-15 minutes to do a complete scan. When it happened to find all the channels, it took less than 2 min. I haven't been brave enough to re-scan since...
I tried removing any splitters to no avail. I also tried putting in a signal amplifier, which greatly improved the distance I could watch analog TV broadcasts (an easy 100 mile range!), but it had no effect on the HDTV channel problem. My TV has TWO coax inputs, one for analog/Cable and one for HDTV. The TV has two separate tuners also, per the manual, one analog and one digital.
I think the problem is with the digital tuner in the TV... Any suggestions would be appreciated.
