A friend of mine bought this tv and i am trying to help him set it up. He only subscribes to expanded basic cable as he doesn't want a decoder box. It has a qam tuner in it but doesn't pick up the local digital channels. Charter says they don't scramble them. Any ideas why tv doesn't pick up the channels? Do different qam tuners not go to the same frequency's as others.

Most often you have to set the TV to specifically scan for cable channels and not OTA channels so be sure that the set is set to scan the Digital/Cable channels. Also the assignment of the channels tend to be kind of random as far numbering, so the channels could be in a broad range.
