It is normal to have some overscan on TVs. Make sure you haven't invoked any stretch modes on the TV or on the STB feeding the TV if you have one. Check the overscan with a setup DVD. See the HDTV FAQ "What you need to do to your new HDTV.

See the HDTV FAQ "Service Codes" and read the warnings there.

I'm not exactly sure what you're talking about.... it's not a new tv, I got it cheap from where I work. All I wanna do is make the whole screen fit when I play my xbox 360 games, I have it set to just and its still cutoff at the bottom :headscrat
I only have the 360 hooked up to this thing... and ya I had already checked the service codes and the panasonic ones didnt work for me :boo2:

I mentioned the "What you need to do to your new TV" FAQ for two reasons.

1. Most people haven't properly set up their TV, even if it isn't new.
2. The setup DVDs referenced therein have an overscan pattern so you can test to see how much overscan you have. A certain amount is normal and if you adjust it for too little overscan for one device, you may have issues with TV programmes, etc.

Alright I ran a test dvd for overscan and this is what i got from the test pattern... top is about 4 %, right is 6 %, bottom is 6 % and left is 5 %...
Is that normal?

I'm assuming this is a CRT-based direct view HDTV. Those numbers are "normal". Some "Bad" CRTs are as much as 10%. The least is about 2%.

I have an lg 30fs4d with an overcan of 10% on the sides.
Can this be fixed?
