I joined this forum the day I purchased my Panasonic LCD rear pro and have been a daily reader. The postings have been very helpful in my HDTV viewing. Now I'm in need for some direct help! While watching MNF today, my TV screen just went black. The power light turned to red and has been flashing consistently every since. The lamp indicator light appears to be flashing red once or twice every 5 seconds. In reading the manual, this may be an indication that my bulb needs to be replaced. But, I never received any warning notice. So now I'm worried. I will contact Panasonic service as soon as they are open. But could anyone advise if this is indeed just the bulb that went out? Or can this be a bigger issue? If it were the bulb, shouldn't the blinking power light eventually turn off to a solid red?

I have not had any problems with the unit since the day 1.

Purchased 1/15/05. This first issue: 11/6/06.

I tried doing a search but could not find anything specific to the my exact problem.

Any input would be helpful!!

Most likely you need a new lamp as indicated in the manual. Just looked at my manual and the only resolution for blinking red lamp indicator is to replace the bulb. Having said that you should be able to quickly verify that it is in fact the bulb/lamp by removing it through the front panel. Simply a matter of removing the front panel and removing 4 screws and pulling out the catridge that contains it. If you see shard glass inside of it you need a bulb.

Mr. oman321,

I think you are correct. I just removed the bul/lamp and it indeed looks like a blown light bulb. Now to find out if I can get a replacement today! I understand the cost is about $300 correct?

Ya give or take a few bucks with shipping.
Heres a link on froogle for many options.

Luckily I've had my set for two years and haven't needed one yet but your part number should be the same. I'm surprised after two years and that lamp still costs about the same, I was hoping it would have gone down some by now, but I think they're still using the same lamp for the newer models as well.

Thank you agian for your help. I ended up ordering directly from the Panasonic Parts center for a cost of $284. I'm also considering ordering a backup lamp in the immediate future. I could only imagine the horror if this happened during a time when I had guest over and watching a movie or heaven forbid....The Superbowl! Hopefully all will go well with me installing it tomorrow. I'll keep you posted.
