So I have just purchased a new Pan and have some questions. Whenever I hit the RECALL button on the remote it says it is being broadcast in 480i. Even when i am watching cable on an HD Channel, or a DVD it still says 480i. So my question is, if the tv is capable of 1080i, how the heck do I get there???? Please help, I know I am a beginner and have a lot to learn, can someone educate me??

If you're using a 'cable box', you must:
a) have the box setup to output 1080i.
b) use component, DVI or HDMI cable between the cable box and TV.
What is the make/model of your cable box? You can check the FAQ's for forum for setup and other useful info.

Okay, thanks that worked for my cable box, but now what about when I am watching a DVD, shouldn't it also be in 1080i, or does that depend on the DVD?
DVDs are encoded as 480i. A progressive scan DVD player will deinterlace the DVD to 480P and an upconverting player will upconvert to 720P or 1080i usually via HDMI. Which DVD player do you have?

My DVD player is a DENON DVM-1815 which is hooked up to a DENON AVR-2807. The DVD is hookedup to the AVR via component right now, not HDMI. So I am taking it that I will need to change that to HDMI?
Most DVD players require the HDMI connection for the upconversion to 720P, 1080i to function.

HDMI or DVI for scaling functions:
HDMI 1.1 (HDCP Compatible – SiL9030) - With Selectable Scaling – 480p/720p/1080i/*1080p and DVD-Audio Output
DVI-D (HDCP Compatible) - With Selectable Scaling – 480p/720p/1080i

You asked: " So my question is, if the tv is capable of 1080i, how the heck do I get there???? "
No. It can NOT display an image at 1080i. Yes -- it can handle a 1080i signal and scale it to fit the screen (768P, I think). The recall button is going to display the signal from the input device, not the actual display.
