My first HDTV veiwing

This is a great form...Reading the posts (again) I followed antenna advice and put a 29.99 Rat Shack roof antenna in my attic just to try it before committing to roof top rig. So far I have I have found CBS with a clear picture. I was very impressed with picture quality. I have yet to hook up the coaxial digital audio bit stream...

My question. Yes, CBS HDTV looked great but I could not help to think my DVD player in 480p looked some-what close to that quality when using one of the better engineered disks. Is CBS’s picture not yet the best it could be? Is DVD’s 480p better then I thought it was or am I going blind?

An excellent DVD looks pretty good on an HDTV. There is a difference between it and HDTV, but it is not "huge". For the best HD picture quality check out programmes like Jay Leno, any live sporting event, the CBS "it's all here" commercial, PBS' HD programmes like "Smart Travel", etc.
