I jus tbought a haier 42" and set it up with component cables. everything is fine except when watching KPBS HD channel, (being broadcast through cable, no digital cable yet) the sound cuts out, even changing channels there is no sound. If I just watch normal TV of play a dvd the sound is fine. I have to turn the TV off then on again then the sound is fine. I only have to do this when watching this one channel.
Is there a problem with sound cutting out when watching HD through regular cable (not even digital)?
Before I exchange this TV or send it in, thought I'd see if anyone has had the same issues.
Thanks,
Brian
I'm confused by your comments. Why would you exchange a TV due to a sound issue on one channel from a Cable Box?
It's very likely the issue is with the signal strength or something. If you're getting KSPS-HD, then this is a digital signal - why do you say you don't have digital cable. And what are the component video cables connecting if not a digital(HD) STB? See the HDTV FAQ "Can I get digital cable".

Sorry if its confusing, its confusing to me also. I have regular cable, not digital (yet). I don't even have a cable box. I have my dvd connected by component cables, there is no problem with playing movies. There is no problem watching other channels on the TV as well. Its just this one channel kpbs-hd (that I've found so far) that cuts out the sound after 5/10 minutes or so, it cuts the sound off for all other channels as well, so if I flip to another channel, there is no sound until I turn off the set then turn it back on. Apparantly there is at least one hd channel that I can receive without digital subscription, although I am planning to go digital next week.
One thing i did change though, is I removed the detatchable speakers that come with the set and used a pair I think sound better, and yep, I'll upgrade to digital audio very soon as well. I don't think that chaning the speakers would affect anything...
