I am needing to buy audio/video cables to attach my VCR, DVD, and sound system to a Sony KP-46WT500 HDTV. I have seen so many different kinds of cables for sale: Monster cables at various stores (these are VERY expensive); Radio Shack brand cables (some of these are expensive, some moderately expensive); Wal Mart cables (they have their own "Gold" brand, not expensive). Acoustic Research cables (moderately expensive). And other brands I won't mention. My question is: which ones are the best? Moster cables "look" expensive but do they actually give better quality video? I need to get some cables but I would like to know what others have purchased and their feedback. Thanks!

There has been no end of discussion on this subject on this forum. Type monster cables into the search engine and see how many hits you get.

Basically you need cables that have good connectors and good quality. You can get this for $20-50 a set depending on the type of cable. There is no need to spend more, unless you've got money burning a hole in your pocket. You've already mentioned some good brands like AR, RS, etc. Buy what you're comfortable with, and if they work fine, don't look back. I was in CC a few days ago, and they even had some "cheap" Monster Cables - almost an oxymoron.

Thanks for your response. I think I'll go with your assessment on the cables and buy a set of medium grade cables (perhaps the "cheap" monster cables). I'll post a "post-cable installation" update on how well the cables perform.
