I would like to know what picture setting you are using for your TH-50PX60U. I found these "optimal" settings at: http://www.plasmatvbuyingguide.com/plasmatvreviews/panasonic-th50px60u-review.html
Picture Mode: Standard
Picture +22
Brightness +8
Color -1
Tint -4
Sharpness -14
Color Temperature: Warm
Enhanced Black Level: Off
These settings appear too bright, to me. I think the display could look better. I actually like the way it looks with the enhanced black level on. I've had the television for 1 week and I don't want to cause burn in from leaving any settings too high.
Thanks in advance
See the following thread with my comments about posting settings on the web, especially post 5.

Using someone else' settings on your TV, is like trying to open your combination lock with someone else' combination. It will not work 99.9+% of the time. If there were optimal settings for TVs, there would be no need for ISF calibrators or for setup DVDs.
See the HDTV FAQs:
- What you need to do to your new HDTV.
- Burn In
- Etc.

According to the Panasonic site, in order to lessen the chance of "burn-in" on your new plasma, you need to break in your set. They recommend reducing the "picture" setting to "0" for the first 100 hours. I've reduced the "brightness" setting to "0" also. They also warn against "black bars" and "static images" for that same time period. http://www2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/vFAQ?page=PlasmaFAQ&storeId=15001&catGroupId=24973&catalogId=13401#tv4
You should also check the "HDTV" faq in this forum.

ohheck, you are getting really good with your Panasonic plasma setup...you should work for me!
:)
I hope you are enjoying it as some of my clients are with their 42 and 58 inch sizes, too.
For those who are too used to CRTs and don't follow the "rules" of plasma operation, I am pushing them to 52" LCD panels, despite their current higher prices, if they want 50" size plasmas. :D

gparris...Thanks for the compliment! I really do like my Panny plasma and I am following all the burn in advice to make sure I can continue to enjoy this incredible set. I checked this morning and I currently have 61 hours on the set. :grandpa9:

Hello there, first time poster here. I just followed the check hours procedure. Is it possible to mess up some settings while trying to get to the options menu? While not being a total idiot, I do have some idiot tendencies like scrolling thru other menus that I probably shouldn't be.
Thanks for your help!!!

I know what you mean. This ol' guy did it with no problem. Just follow the instructions, don't deviate and you should have no problem. :grandpa9:

Well, the thing is, I DID deviate from the instructions, and went into menus other than the option menu by accident. I was overtaken with excitement that the instruction actually worked and things just happened from there. I wonder if I screwed anything up. I don't think I did, but still worrying.
Thanks!
Before going into the service menu, always read the warnings in the HDTV FAQ "Service Codes".

As stated in the link provided in post #7 above:
Converting Hours in Hex to Dec Numbers:
In Windows, open CALC (calculator).
Click View, and set it to Scientific mode.
Select Hex, enter the number then click Dec.
It will convert it to a Decimal number for you.

DON'T touch the {VOL+} and {VOL-} buttons as they change values in the Service Menu.
