I was browsing when I ran across someone commenting on a problem with "banding" on his newer Panasonic TH-42PX60. Can someone explain to me what "banding" is. I don't notice anything unusual on my 50" Panny plasma, but then again, I don't know what I'm looking for either. :grandpa9:

Banding is colour banding, that which shows bands of colour like in a horizon during a sunrise or sunset...shading where there shouldn't be...this is my understanding of the concept.
Some Sharp LCD 52" panel sets have had it, amongst others, but it can occur on any set and adjustments can help it to an extent.

gparris.....Thanks. It was described as "snakes" across the screen where I read it. Your description makes it clearer to me. Happy to say that I haven't seen this on my new set. :grandpa9:
