I have a setting on my panasonic 53wx42 that I can change from SD to HD. The only problem is it will not allow me to change it. I read the manual but it gave me no help. Is it only used for HDTV channels because I don't have any of those I spent all my money on the TV. Thanks for the help.

I think it is this:

SD = Standard Definition (the other digital standard) = 480p

HD = High Definition = 720p or 1080i

NTSC = Something Television Stadard Commitee = 480i

ATSC = Advanced Television Standard Commitee = 480p, 720p and 1080i

There is a really good FAQ in the FAQ section about what all the acronyms are as well.

BrianW,

Mostly correct, but I think that:

480i is SD (Standard Definition) (NTSC)
480P is ED (Enhanced Definition)
... and so on.
