Hi, just purchased the Samsung LN-S4051 LCD and love it ,all except that if you move about 5' off the center of the tv the faces start to look pale. Is this normal for a LCD or is something wrong with my set.

Thanks
Al

Doesn't sound normal to me. Most LCD flat panels have a viewing area of around 170 degrees...which is more than 5'. On my Sony flat panel, there is no change when I move off center...no changes in color or faces at all. :grandpa9:

Actually it is quite normal for a lot of LCDs as soon as you move out of the sweet spot, the colour fades, even though the viewing angle is high. Plasmas and direct view CRTs don't usually have this issue, although most RPTVs do.

With a proper setup, the fade may appear to be less, but it's still there. See the HdTV FAQ "What you need to do to your new HDTV".
