I recently purchased a Samsung HT-TQ85 Home Theatre system to work with my 42" Sony Projection LCD TV (KF-42WE620). The unit has HDMI out and my TV has DVI in (with the manual stating that it "can accommodate a copy-protected digital connection (HDCP) to other devices such as digital TV receivers that have compatible interfaces, compliant with the EIA-861 standard.")
So, I purchased an HDMI -> DVI cable (DVI-D, single link) and when connected, I get no picture (actually, intermittent flashes of blue and green). Component video works fine, but I was hoping to enjoy the benefits of the upconverting DVD. Here's the troubleshooting steps I have taken:
1. Tested the cable, works fine.
2. Connected an HD video cam (using the HDMI -> DVI cable) to the TV and it worked fine.
3. Tested the new Samsung unit with another TV (HDMI -> HDMI) and it worked fine.
Coincidentally, when I attach my Motorola PVR (DCT6412) to the TV, again using the HDRI -> DVI cable, I get no picture as well.
Sony has been little help, sending a technician to my house to basically tell me what I already knew, and the vendor that I purchased the new system from is not technically strong.
The TV is less than 18 months old, and otherwise works perfectly. The whole thing has me frustrated :sightv: in Vancouver. Any help, comments, or tips would be muchly appreciated. Thanks!
