I've seen this set numerous times in Circuit city and it seems to have a great picture.

When I asked the salesmen why CC had it priced at $2,199, which is lower than many of the 51" screens, he said that JVC was trying to undercut the competition.

Can anyone who has this set give me their opinions. I've heard that they are going to come out with a new line next year and would be wary of purchasing an "older model" JVC.

I picked up mine as an open-box demo @ CC for $1699.00. That was just too good of a price to turn down as I wanted a set with DVI.I've been real happy. My roommate bought a Mits & I have a real tough time seeing any difference in picture at all. 4 months & no problems to speak of.It also seemed that the JVC sets have a real low rate of repair (from my limited research).

I have the tv and I am very happy with it. I understand that you get what you pay for. Especially with the features.

I have friends in the neighborhood that have Mitsu's and Hitachi's and as they propably are a better tv....after proper calibration the difference is not substantial.

I am very happy with my purchase.

I received my tv around 3 months ago and I love it. This is a very good choice for the money.

dhatchett,
Have you calibrated your JVC?

I did my own calibration with the Sound and Vision DVD. I want to get it professionally done but I can't afford it right now. Have any suggestions???

I would like to have mine done as well but I did as you did, calibrated with a calibration DVD.

The point is to calibrate the TV so that 2 things happen. You are not operatind the TV in a manner that could damage the unit and that it is setup in a manner that displays the image the way the producer intended for you to see it.

I would guess the majority of the people "self" calibrate simply because of the cost involved.
