View Full Version : Advent 27 inch hdtv screen problems.

I bought this tv in the summer of 2003, i had no problems with it until last night. I turned it on and theres two black crescent shaped marks along the sides of the screen, is there any way to fix this? or is it time to get a new tv
Have a look at the HDTV FAQ "Things to check first". If none of those hints works, time to call for service, or get a new TV.

Sounds like Bowing. Is this a tube TV? repair or replace is your options.

Oh, this is not good. This forum was the first thing that came up when I googled Advent HDTV today. I bought my 27 inch from Best Buy around the same time as the first poster, and just a few minutes ago the screen started bowing in on both sides. I'm in Florida, too.
Since the original only cost me about $450, I'm guessing repair of such an off brand might not be worth the price.

Update: Took the TV to a local repair shop. $155 to replace the pincushion board. I've already replaced the unit with an Olevia 332H monitor, so I'll probably give this one to my sister-in-law who hasn't taken the HDTV plunge yet. I've drunk at least $155 of wine at her house so it's a wash!
