How important are the quality of the surround speakers? One of mine has almost hit the shitter - old bookshelf Cerwin-Vega from college.

I'm looking for something more compact - will mount them to the walls. Have Klipsch front and center.

thanks,

Mark

Klipsch are fairly "bright" and accurate. Suggest you get something that will "timbre match" (sound the same). Some retailers will allow you to "test" their speakers. Perhaps you could take a Klipsch to the store and compare, or simply buy a couple of Klipsch instead of being a "cheapskate" (sorry, could think of another appropriate word right now that would be as accurate - perhap frugal would be a better term?).

I just did a home theatre setup with BIC Venturi's. For the price, they are easily the best speaker system available. Buy.com had them for fairly cheap...

Trying to figure out which Klipsch surrounds to get. Just how much power do the surrounds see, compared to the front mains?

Finally remembered what mains I have - Klipsch Forte II's, no longer made. I believe the center channel is the Academy model (don't think it's still made either).

I'm looking at the RS-3II, the SS-1, and the SS.5. Would any suffice? How critical is the power handling capability of the surrounds?

First off, what position are these surrounds supposed to be mounted in (horizontal or vertical)? I am planning on wall mounting and do not have the space to mount horizontally.

thanks,

Mark
