Does anybody know of a good brand that has a cable card slot? I really like Vizio because of their price and reputation, but there is no cable card slot. I don't have the kind of money to buy a Sharp or Panasonic with a cable card slot that costs $1000+. Has anyone seen a cheaper, still good quality, brand like Vizio with a cable card slot? I'm looking for a 32"

Why not use the STB, Better yet get one that is DVR- all free from your cable co.

I'd say Samsung, but they might be over your limit of $1000.

Yeah that's too expensive. It is driving me nuts because Vizio is perfect in so many ways except the cable card slot, which is one of the things I really want.

I honestly do not know of any others I think you would be hard pressed to find something with cablecard in that size for the price you want to spend.

If you can't find an 32" under $1000 with a QAM tuner or Cablecard slot, then get ANY 32" and rent a box (non-DVR) from your cable provider for ~$6.00 per month. You'd be better off...

Generally, cable card slots are found on more expensive sets that include more "bells and whistles". I only found one...a Sharp 32 that was way more than you want to spend.
I also would suggest you buy the set that suits you best within your price range and go with a set top box. :grandpa9:

I think I remember seeing something once about a way to hook up a cable card to a TV that doesn't support cable cards. Anybody know anything about this?

Yeah you can buy a $800 Series 3 Tivo that supports dual cable cards.

They're not free with Comcast.
You could rent a box for 5 years for the extra you pay to have cable card.

I'm not really sure what you're saying. Comcast website says that cable cards are free from them.

He meant......You could rent a box for 5 years for the extra you would have to pay to buy a tv with cable card capability (since there are none in your $1000 price range). :grandpa9:

And cable cards generally aren't free, there is usually a monthly rental fee though it's less then an STB.

Seriously. Buy a TV. There is nothing wrong with researching and asking questions, but it seems like nothing will please you. Depending on where you buy, you WILL have some kind of return policy; so buy from somewhere that you can return it.
