Did you not ask a similar question yesterday? Was the question not answered to your satisfaction?
All early adopters know the risk. If you are not willing to accept those risks then you should wait/should have waited till the dust settles. At this point there is no guarantee on either side no matter what one side may say about the other.

Take your HD DVD player back or sell it on ebay if you are that concered. Otherwise, enjoy it, watch some great movies, and stop worrying about its fate.

yeah i did, but for some reason I can't find the original thread, I figured it was deleted by a mod, because of something I am not sure of yet

At some point, someone will, if not done already, create a player that will play both Blu-Ray and HD-DVD. So if HD-DVD loses out, your player may be obsolete but the HD-DVD's themselves will still be good. It'll be a few years before we really know who will win out. Remember, the war between the 2 formats is young and even though one may take the advantage over the other, who knows what's in the works for the other. I'll give you a hypothetical example. Let's say Blu-Ray starts to dominate the market. Remember, HD-DVD is backed my Microsoft and we all know what dominance Microsoft has, so Microsoft could develop a better high definition DVD that could blow Blu-Ray away. Wait some time and see what happens. As was stated, enjoy the DVD's you have. They'll be around a lot longer then any player will.

Yeah so LG made a player that plays both HD DVD and bluray, though it does not play the interactive features of HD DVD discs. I guess you didn't hear about that?
