Have had the set 1 year +1 day. Just started turning off by itself after 5 to 10 minutes. Turn it back on and does same thing. Called Vizio and they had me fax recipt and info and sounded like they will take care of it. Will see. Any idea what could cause this?

Timer? or a neighbor with the same tv
Also, try unplugging it for a while to see if it resets.
See the HDTV FAQ "Things to check first".

I did try that, no help. I acted up 3 nights in a row but worked fine last night. Am waiting for a call to schedule a tec to repair it all on Vizio. Meanwhile at Costco today where I paid $1600 one year ago same set newer version now sells for $800. IF I had to pay to fix it max I would go maybe $300 above that I would buy a new one. Vizio said something about replacing the power supply, will see. I will say Vizio got right on it from the time I first e-mailed in the A.M. then phone talk then fax info and recipt then e-mail from them telling me to expect a call from a srevice tec to schedule a date to fix all in one day.

From what I've read, Vizio has pretty good customer service. However, in the event that they're not able to resolve the issue with your set, since you bought the set from Costco, you can return the set for full refund as long as you have your receipt, the cables, remote, users manual, etc. You don't need the box it came in.
Costco recently revised their unlimited return policy to 90 days for tvs. However, according to them you would still fall under the old return policy. Just a thought to keep in mind as a back up in case all else fails. :grandpa9:

Well, technically you're out of factory warranty and could possibly have to pay for any repairs needed. I would ask them if the service call and any repairs needed were going to be covered by the warranty since you are a couple of days past the warranty expiration date. If they confirm that the repairs and service call will be covered under warranty, then it's your choice to let them proceed.
However, as I mentioned, since you bought the set at Costco, you purchased it under their "satisfaction guaranteed, unlimited return" policy. That policy was, according to Costco, like an extended warranty. The cost of your yearly membership fee entitled you to that coverage...again according to Costco. So, you have the option to return your defective Vizio to Costco for a full refund of your original purchase price, since you purchased the set before the new policy changed to 90 days.
Anyway, the decision is yours...but you do have options. :grandpa9:

Well back from Costco with new VX37LHD set. They refunded me for the price I paid 1 year ago $1600. and I bought the new one for $850. Walked out the door with new TV and $700 in my wallet. I want to thank all of you for the input I would have never thought Costco would refund after a year. I you ever come to Maui, drinks on me. Thanks again........

Glad you got it worked out. My son and his new wife spent their honeymoon at Kanapali Beach a few years ago. They had a great time. Beautiful island. :grandpa9:
