Basically I am trying to get my grandparents setup with HDTV for their local channels. All they want is their local channels, they don't want cable/satellite/etc. They have a pair of small LCD TVs that do NOT have HDTV tuners.

The local channels in this area are scattered all over the place, so a directional antenna wouldn't be feasible. So far I've been leaning towards the DB8 from Terrestrial Digital. I just have no clue what I need past that. I know I need a tuner for each TV, and I also need a splitter. I was hoping someone here with more experience then me might have some suggestions on good tuners/splitters. :)

Are you or they willing to pay the extra $$$bucks for HDTV ???
What do they usually watch??.
How about an antenna rotator ? (popular during the past century)

Zenob:
There are some ATSC (OTA) HDTV tuners available that are relatively inexpensive.

Any spiltter should suffice. Read the FAQ's and look at the "stickys" in the OTA forum for some info and to get some ideas.

As for an antenna, check www.antennaweb.org for distance/direction.

OTA HD tuners seem to be very rare. The best one out there IMHO is the Samsung DTBH260F. Amazon sells them for around 180.00 when they can get them in stock. Best Buy and Circuit City had them on their web site, but they seem to be out of stock every time I check. They are a small unit and will work just fine if you can order one.
