I just read on another forum that certain HDMI cables will only support certain resolutions ie. up to 1080i. If you have a 1080p tv will it only go up to 1080i? My understanding was that an HDMI cable supports all resolutions that your TV supports. Any further info?

Depending on the quality, gauge and distance of the cable that may be true. If you need an HDMI cable that is rated for 1080p, look here:

As stated above, an appropriate HDMI cable will certainly handle 1080P. If you don't want to go to Monoprice, a local computer store should have a cable for about C$20.

After a google search and a product search at monoprice.com I cannot find a definition of the term "net jacket" as it relates to HDMI cable (specifically product #2219, 6', 24 awg, w/net jacket, at Mono).

Anyone know the specific purpose of a "net jacket?" Did I just spend too much money on something I don't really need? :(

Why not go directly to the source and inquire?

I just found this on another forum:
"Net jacket" is a nylon net which is good for cable PVC jacket protection. It's mostly useful where cables are being pulled through trays or wiring channels.

Not only is it protection, but it's also more slippery, making for an easier pull through conduit, etc. Also notice that the ones with nets do not have the ferrite cores, making them easier to pull. You'll note that some of them are also fire rated for in-wall installations.

...and thanks for the additional cable info; especially useful for those installing their systems.

I did however, 'over-buy.' My intent was to spend a few extra dollars to obtain a couple of HDMI's that were a little better in quality than the standard cable offering. I did not notice (until yesterday) that they were configured with a 'net jacket' (which I do not need). Well, they'll be here today so if they look OK, I'll keep 'em. If not, I have access to some Phillips HDMI's that I can use...
