When I read user reviews, it seems like most of the positive ones are people who have just bought their TV. They've had it for a few days, and they are happy with it.

The negative ones are people that have had it about a year, and it breaks.

How many TV's have problems after a year or two?

I'm planning on getting the 32" Vizio.

I would say 74 TVs have problems after a year or two.

Seriously, I don't know the answer to this and I don't know anyone that would. Some TVs last for 15 years, others last for 15 minutes. There is no real way to know if you are getting a lemon or not.
I would say though that the way you treat your TV affects its life. Don't leave it on during thunder storms, don't turn it on and off 20 times a minute, don't drink, smoke or eat by it etc......

The people who post problems/unhappiness or complete satisfaction with their sets, represent only a very small number of the total number of consumers who have purchased hdtv sets. For instance, this board has 37,567 members from various locations throughout the world. In the U.S. alone, there are millions of households who purchase hdtvs and related electronics, who probably don't belong to a forum such as this.

So, while this forum provides valuable help and information from many knowledgeable people, trying to make a decision based soley on whether a particular set may have a problem in a year or so won't do you much good. There's not a brand of electronics made that is totally free from the potential to have a problem at some point.

What you need to do, now that you've decided on the Vizio, is to buy the set and enjoy it. Stop worrying about what may or may not happen to that set down the road. Otherwise, you'll end up not buying anything for fear of what might happen. :grandpa9:
