I am intrested in adding a home theater system in my room, i am most likely going to buy a Home Theater in a Box. I currently connect my Hi-Def cable box through HDMI.

The cable box does have two HDMI outputs(or inputs sorry) is it possible to have my whole system connected through HDMI. ex. my tv to the cable box, cable box to HTIB? the cable are cheap through monoprice.com but is i worth it? or a waste of time? if i add my ps3 to my HTIB through hdmi will it show up on my TV? basically what do i need or how do i setup my whole system using HDMI? and is it possible?

sorry if this sounds confussing i am confused myself

sorry to sound like a noob

Cable boxes don't usually have HDMI inputs. What is the make/model of the STB?

What make/model HTiB are you considering? What make/model TV are you considering. How many HDMI inputs will the TV have?

Look on the back of your hi-def TV or cable box, for an optical output. If you have one, then plug that into the back of your home stereo. Keep in mind, some HDTVs don't have a 'pass-through' feature for the optical audio channel, so you might not get any audio from the TV's optical output unless you have a cablecard or receive 'over the air' broadcasts.

I recently bought an HDMI cable from monoprice, the cable seems fine to me, definitely the best price you'll ever find.
