If you have a widescreen TV, a non HD DVD player, and you a get a widescreen DVD, does it make your screen even wider, or does it just fit to the whole screen?

There's no difference.
A widescreen DVD on a widesceen TV (HD or non-HD) will be widescreen. The only caveat would be how the DVD is formatted and the Aspect Ratio of the material.
You've been here a while and I'm sure you've read the FAQ's that explains these questions. If you need futher explanations... try re-reading the FAQ's or if/when you get your TV, we can go from there.
