hi all, i'm new here. I would like to know what's everyone's opinion on the samsung LN-T5265F. i'm thinking about buying it for $3500. The store also has a sharp and a samsung LCD TV. I'm leaning towards the samsung myself due to its price and since I have a family member who has the 46" in model and it looks really good. i would like to know everyone's opinion on which of the following three models is a better buy.
Sharp LL52D92V for about $3100
Sony KDL52XBR2 for about $4500
Samsung LN-T5265F for about $3500
which of these is better and why?
thanks
Considering Sony & Sammy are manufactured together. I personally like Sammy's cosmetics better. Sony is too techy for me... I think that Sharp is not as smooth a picture as either of the previous.
I would go for the Sammy...
Enjoy!

I recently purchased the Sharp 46" (model #LC-46D92U). The new models from Sharp (with the "92U" model numbers) are awesome. I was impressed with the older version ("62U" models), but this one is even better. I am obviously a little biased here, but I would not trade my tv for any other LCD on the market now. This is not to say Sony and Samsung are bad, but I really liked the Sharp model more.
I have both a Blu-ray player and an HD-DVD player and they look phenomenal on the Sharp. I know this may sound corny, but there are colors with this tv that I never saw on my old LG 720p LCD monitor.
Hope this helps.

1 vote for the samsung. 1 vote for the sharp. I still haven't seen a "consumer report" type of review on the samsung LN-T5265F. i guess its because its a new model.

I am also ready to purchase. I have narrowed my choice down to either the Samsung LN-T5265F or the Sony KDL-52XBR3. You had put the BR2, is this last years model?
Comparing the Contrast Ratios, the Sony is 7,000:1 vs. the Samsungs 15,000:1. A salesman at Circut City said that the increase on the Samsung helped to resolve the Clouding effect or "mura" over the LNS series at 10,000:1.
I am also considering making my purchase online. I have purchased from Vann's, but there are less expensive. Any input on a safe ,reliable online store would be helpful.

I cannot find a local store to see this model yet. Vanns has it for $3,999.00 with free ground shipping. Shop Digital Online has it for $3,159.00 + $169.00 shipping, total $3,328.00. Vanns has a good review rating where S.D.O. does not, but $600.00 is a big gap.
I am leaning towards the Samsung because of price and from what info I am gathering that they have alot of the same parts.
Both the xbr2 and xbr3 are current models. The only difference is that you can add different colors to the bezel of the xbr2.

Did you happen to notice that Sony gives a 6 mo. longer warranty to the xbr3.
When its all said and done, they all will look fantastic in your home.
Go w/ what you like.

Thanks Devo, I did not know about the Changeable Bezel, nice idea. Good to know about the longer warranty. Would you know about maintenance on Flat Panel TV's. I had my Mits. projection TV cleaned once a year, optics, screen, etc. Is there a basic maintenance schedule for Flat Panels? Is getting an extended warranty worth the price? Thanks for your input.
Very reliable technologies, less issues than projection. I call them a lottery...In this case, you hope you didn't pick the winner. I got it on mine, call it piece of mind. If you can go out and buy another one w/ out thinking about it...then don't buy the warranty.
But no, there is nothing to do maitenence wise w/ panel tv's one adjusted the way you like it. No convergence, cleaning (internally), very easy to use stuff.

devo, you call the quality of the sony's "a lottery"? what percentage of their LCD sets have a manufacture defect?
Not specific to name brand, just panels in general.
Plasma's and LCD are both very reliable technologies. However, when they do have an issue, you have an issue!
Most of the time when a technician comes out, there really isn't much to do. Possibly change the power supply, maybe switch out a couple of boards, beyond that, you replace it. And for that, you hope you purchased the warranty.
I don't have an exact no. but it would be in the teens for the major manufactures. Probably higher for the entry level brands.
