he wants to buy 1280x 1080 hdtv he says size will not matter . he also said it must be under 1000 brand new. or used if u guys have a classifieds section.

Well, that certainly narrows it down. Have him look at Vizio. Good bang for the buck. He could probably get a 37" LCD for under $1000.

No point in spending the extra money for a 1080p set if you are going that small unless you plan to sit right on top of it. What's his viewing distance going to be?

Tell him to cough up another $700 and he can get a 50" Sony SXRD at Sam's Club for $1699. Don't know if he'll get a quality 1080p set for under $1000. The SXRD at Sam's is the best deal I've seen lately.

he said hes gonna wait till summer and save up money till then.. he wants to get a above 37inch lcd 1080p tv. i found one for him for 1399 that was 32 inch i think .. so he said hes gonna get it awhen he saves up money

Again, if he wants a 32 inch set and the cost difference between a 720p and 1080p set is large, go with the 720p set unless he's going to be sitting within a couple feet of it.

Once your back far enough it's hard to make out the difference between the two resolutions. 1080p benefits larger sets much more then smaller ones.
