I've read the DVI-HDMI FAQ, and it didn't really help too much.

I just got a PS3 and really anted to be able to use the HDMI (even though I've only got a 1080i TV) but I noticed that my TV only supports DVI.

If using a DVI-HDMI cable, is the picture really any better than using component? Some say yes, some say no. My TV is a large screen (I think 60 inch) RCA HDTV monitor.

Any input is appreciated.

As posted many times before, usually on CRT based sets (which is what I'm guessing you have since it's 1080i native), there is no real difference. The only way to be sure using your TV and PS3 combination is to try both and decide for yourself. You can get an HDMI to DVI cable for like $10 bucks from monoprice.com if you'd like to try it out. Make sure you calibrate both inputs your comparing between also.

Thanks for the help Matt....and sorry for asking a question that's been answered before (new here)

Can you or someone explain what you mean by calibrating the inputs?

A "simple" calibrartion would be to use a setup/tuneup DVD such as Avia or DVE.
There is an advanced calbration that can be perform professionally by a certified ISF calibrator.
