That Panasonic is a monitor only. It doesn't come with a built in tuner or speakers. It does however have one of the highest rated picture qualities.
The Toshiba LCD would probably serve you better for playing video games since they don't have a burn in problem like the plasma. It is also a 1080P model.
The Visio would be my last choice because it is refurbished.

I would stay away from a Plasma due to the possibility of burn-in and if you're playing video games, you might eventually have a problem.

The Toshiba LCD is not new. On the decription, it says
Cosmetic Condition: LIKE BRAND NEW
which means the tv was used.

As for the Vizio, I have a problem with a description when it says: NO PAYAPL Payments, and Paypal is spelled wrong, plus you can find refurbished Vizio's for much cheaper.

In my opinion, I would NOT buy a tv from ebay. I did a long time ago and even though the tv was OK, it was not what I had expected.

Your best bet, and you will hear this from other people on the forum, that the Vizio is the best for your buck. Just search in the other threads about which tv to buy and the Vizio is brought up quite a bit. And if you decide on a Vizio, don't buy it on ebay.

I am a big fan of Vizio. A new 42 inch can be had for $1200.00 at Sams or Costco.
Stay away from the L42 and consider the GV42L or the VX37L at a great price of $799.99 I hang ny 32 inch on the wall.

The Vizio P42 plasma is only $999. While I have no first hand knowledge of Vizios plasma, It is one I am considering my bedroom.

I recently purchased the Olevia 532H HDTV LCD and I have been very pleased. Especially since I only paid $600 total brand new from HH Gre** here in Indiana. The only hassle Ive had so far was a snarky remote code that my old universal couldnt learn. Bought a URC 8910 for less than $25 and I am happy! This tv is probably the best bang for buck set you can buy, and there are similar values to be had out there for the larger sets as well. I reviewed this tv on Ama^on as well. Oh and just FYI I received a special advertisement from HH Gre** and they have a 42in Olevia for only $997 on wed the 18th only! Its the employee family price sale. I used to work for them and still buy from them so I get these mailers. :grandpa9:

Also check out Olevia tvs I would say it is just about even as far as which is the best budget tv out there between Olevia and Vizio especially the LCD's I have the Olevia 532H and have been very pleased for the last 6 months. I paid EXACTLY $600 brand new out the door. And the Olevia has a full year on site warranty and you can purchase 3 additional years for only like 179. The idea that they come to me and fix my tv I find very comforting.

hey dude wuts up

i understand picking out a tv is very difficult
-first off, dont go with a used tv, no matter what becuase you seriously dont know wuts wrong with it
- second, dont be cheap, in reality the better the tv brand name and more expensive... 9 time outta 10 its gonna last the longest
- third dont worry so much about burn in on plasmas because it is now very difficult for something to PERMANTENTLY be burned in video game wise because the companys have made video games that arent as seseptable to burn in
- lastly get either a panasonic plasma cuz its the best bang for your buck, or if u really want to go lcd, even though i dont advise it because plasma is a far superior picture, go sony samsung or lg
- ps to optomize the performance of your tv picture and life dont forget necessary accessories including

-hdmi cable
-surge protector from monster
- service plan (in case ur tv breaks)
-upconvert dvd player( for better quality for your movies)
-hd cable or sattelite or if you dont want to pay for hd get and hd antenna for like 50 bucks

there u go dude

I agreed with most of what this poster told you but I must take issue with the above sentence. I have been a home theater specialist at HH Gregg and an A/V afficianado for about 6 years and I can tell you that with the competition in electronics and new companies trying to establish a name for themselves you can find some incredible deals on newer brands like Olevia and Vizio just to name 2 that are highly reviewed fully featured and extremely comparable to pricier brand name units. Just search some reviews and find out for yourself. My Olevia 532H LCD HDTV was a steal at $600 and there is no way I can touch it in a sony or panasonic or sharp for less than a grand. And I have one year full in home protection and I bought 3 years additional coverage through the manufacturer for 179. So I am completely protected for 4 years and I still paid less than $800!

I definetly agree w/ not going cheap on these Olevia's and Vizio's.
Panasonic is always the go to when you are on a budget. Fosphur burn is almost a never w/ Plasma's now adays, and their processing is so much smoother. LCD's look their best w/ bright images and w/ a bright room. Put a lot of motion on the screen, and you have issues.
I only recommend those off brands in the case of outdoor or 2nd & 3rd tv's. Not for someone who is going to use as a main tv. There are so many other options to look at.
Save your money for a better quality product. You always get what you paid for it.

Wow you are sort of being a snob. I used to sell these tvs and while I agree that Pioneer and mitsubishi for example are some of the best tvs on the market, there are several VERY good tvs by olevia and Vizio. I have sold them all and compared them all and I can tell you that for someone who needs a new tv and wants to go digital but doesnt have the money to commit that you obviously do, these are not bad choices. I can HONESTLY say that my Olevia compares to any TV I have ever seen in the $1000 price range for considerably less. Sometimes you get what you pay for and other times you are paying more than you have to for a well establshed name. And for most peoples real world viewing an LCD is perfectly fine I watch in a softly lit living room or during the day with blinds and black curtains never totally in the dark and the picture is EXCELLENT in HD and very good on dvd while a little softer with more pixelation on SD programming, and as far as motion being a problem I watch sunrise theater in hd with hundreds of sea birds or swimming fish and havent noticed 1 issue yet. And Olevia is now making more high end type TVs The Olevia 747i for example was very well received by Sound & Vision mag and is at the top of the S&V best list in the may issue.

Wow you are sort of being a snob.
A lot of people say things with out firsthand knowledge. All manufactures have problems. It is knowing the quality brands vs not so good when buying low cost. Just because something cost more does not not make it better.

Why do you think that I'm some sort of snob? Just because I'm recommending a manufacturer (Panasonic) that has been doing this since the beginning of plasma manufacuturing. And for reliability, I would put them against anyone. Consumers Reports has listed them No. 1 for years. Panny's are just a few $$$ more and I hate a bad LCD picture. Most of the good ones are VERY expensive.

It was this line that brought out my comments.
http://www.syntaxbrillian.com/company/history.html
http://www.vizio.com/about_us/
Both of these companies have a quality background
Unlike Westinghouse, which is just a name used for marketing purposes
Licensees of the modern Westinghouse Electric Corporation
The following companies sell products under the name Westinghouse, having each licensed the name from the modern-day CBS-owned Westinghouse:

Westinghouse Digital Electronics, selling LCD televisions and related products
Westinghouse Lighting Corporation, selling light bulbs, ceiling fans, and lighting fixtures
Salton, Inc., selling vacuum cleaners
Linear LLC d/b/a Westinghouse-home.com, selling garage-door openers and wireless intercoms
The NCC, Inc., selling electrical accessories, small lighting devices, and flashlights
Nordyne d/b/a Westinghouse Heating and Cooling, selling HVAC systems
International Development Corporation d/b/a Westinghouse Solar Lights, selling solar lighting

Kevin, I see your point...but you have done exactly what I recommended. Put them around the house as 2nd and 3rd tv's. They are not bad tv's, just probably not a performance version that YOU would have in the FRONT room.

MANY MANY people have Olevias and Vizios as the primary tv in the house, I could have afforded a slightly more expensive tv but after making all the comparisons, I really couldnt think of any good reason to. For a person on a budget or who is making the first step into HD The newer Olevias and Vizios will serve admirably. I get a VERY good picture on my tv with My toshiba dvd player and an EXCELLENT picture in hd through my HR-20 dvr. I have compared the picture on my tv against all kinds of tvs and it holds up very nicely. At a distance I defy you to tell the difference. If you sit very close and watch in the dark then obviously you may find issues with these tvs but for my purposes not only does the Olevia 532H serve, I am the envy of all who have seen it as I look very smart when they find out what a great deal I got.

Yes I do use both as secondary TV's but if I wanted LCD I would not be afraid to use Vizio or some Olivia's as a main TV. I prefer DLP for most of my viewing. I have seen the Vizio plasmas and if I was inclined I would look at those too. The price plus PQ can't be beat. i prefer DLP as my main source over all technologies for my circumstances.

Did you end up buying a HDTV off of ebay? How did that work out for you -- i would personally be terrified to drop that much money on ebay.
