would the image be burned in, and cause damage to a plasma screen in this situation........

Im not sure if u guys have the same kinda thing with ur cable company. But my HD channels, on commercial only, have the thick black lines on each side, and then when the show is back on, ( sports..etc) then it becomes full screen again. Will the black lines on the side , during commercial , cause damage to the screen? or is there a way to set it so the black lines never show up on channels that are in HD? Cuz sometimes , like my network channels are in HD and some times there not. and when there not they have the black lines, sorry for rambling on, hope someone knows what im talkin about :)

Here's the thread on burn in. Since the upconverted 4:3 programming is only on part of the time, it should not be an issue, but if you watch a huge amount of it, it could become an issue. If it's only the commercials don't worry.

If you tend to watch a lot of the upconverted programming and wish to be conservative, watch the equivalent SD channel instead and stretch the image.
