I am real happy I found this site. Our AKAI was recently looked at by a local repair shop recommened by AKAI. They can fix the problem to the tune of $525 for service $225 for parts, which I think is a big rip off. The top of the TV is bowed and the colors are ghosty in red and green. Is there a site I can buy the parts myself or a store locally (we are in Phoenix). They did not list the specific parts on the estimate so what do I need to buy? I have read some other blogs re convergence and they say IC's and resistors. Is that all I would need? My husband had some training in electronics in the 60's with the RCAF and he feels he could do it, or at least give it a shot. Any help you can give me would be most appreciated. Thank You
