I am trying desperately to find a remote control that will control all of my devices, and allow me the use of my interactive on-screen guide for cable. Below is a list of components...any advice would be GREATLY appreciated. Also, I was hoping to not have to spend $500 for this.
Mitsu 55" Platinum w/integrated Tuner
Time Warner Cable HD Box
DVD Player
VCR
Sony Surround Sound Receiver
Thanks for the input!

Thanks for the reply. I did check out this thread, however I am looking for information specific to the Time Warner HD Cable Box. I was told at the store that possibly Time Warner has a different remote, or that they could advise me on whose remote might work with their system.
After calling Time Warner directly, they informed me that NO remote would work with their box. Does anyone out there have the Time Warner HD Box (Scientific Atlanta Brand) that is controlled by a universal remote, allowing the use of the interactive guide.
Thank You!
TW is wrong (so what else is new when talking to people who don't really know much about technology).
I use the learning remote that came with my Yamaha receiver to control the SA3100HD. Any learning remote should be able to learn the codes by putting the remotes nose to nose.
(I do use the IPG, other SA menu items, etc.)
If a remote is "non-learning", then the factory codes may not be preprogrammed, but any "learning" remote should be able to learn the appropriate codes.
The only time you run into difficulty is when one component/remote is RF (radio frequency) instead of IR (Infra red).

Orlandohdtv - I work for TW in Los Angeles. I will do some checking around and see if I can get the information. Be patient - I'll let you know either way.

I just got the Harmony remote. It seems to control all devices and will give you the TWC guide also. You can download all programing into the remote. I just got it set up tonight but all in all it seems pretty good.
I bought this Mosaic (http://www.remotecentral.com/ces2000/uei.htm#photo11) when the remote for my old Pioneer RPTV got lost. I checked out a few different remotes and this one was very easy to setup and use. Needed it to be able to access the menus and convergence.
Other than the codes for the Pioneer, which I downloaded, I used it as a learning remote and taught it with the other remotes I had.
Here is another LINK (http://http://www.futurehomesystems.com/a625.shtml) with some more info.

I am a small custom installer in Orlando, and I use the Home Theater Master MX-500 & MX-700 for all my installs. I use similar equipment as you and have no problems at all (Mits WS-55311, Denon AVR-3802 Receiver, Sony DVD, Time Warner Digital Cable Box, TiVo2).
You can check out the remote at www.hometheatermaster.com
Please feel free to contact me if you want any other info sundial2k@hotmail.com

I just purchased the Home Theater Master MX-700 for $350.00 at www.BlueDo.com (http://www.BlueDo.com) including free next day air shipping. This remote is awsome & if you can spend a couple of extra bucks I completly recommend it.
Just read a pretty good review of the Harmony SST-768 Remote in S&V.
Programmable from your PC! $210.

I would recommend the One-For-All URC-9910 which cost me $89 at Fry's. It controls all the pieces of my home theatre. They upgraded it over the phone for me to control my Samsung Satellite Receiver, simply by holding the phone up to the back of the remote. Their manual includes a long list of cable converters too.

I bought this Home Theater Master (http://shop.store.yahoo.com/efunctional/mx-500.html) . I love the remote, becasue it will learn anything, and you can customize the text on the LCD screen. Plus it was the best price in town!....only $104.34 :)
