Regular-season Games Scheduled for the Remaining NBA and NHL Seasons

in Philadelphia and in the Baltimore and Washington, DC Areas

PHILADELPHIA, Feb. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Comcast SportsNet announced today its initial high-definition television schedule for the remaining 2002-2003 NBA and NHL regular seasons to be featured on Comcast SportsNet HDTV in Philadelphia and in the Baltimore and Washington, DC area this year.

The initial Comcast SportsNet HDTV schedule features a combined 18 regular-season Flyers and 76ers games in Philadelphia, and a combined 20 regular-season Capitals and Wizards games in the Baltimore and Washington, DC area. Postseason games for all teams will be scheduled accordingly, and the remaining NBA and NHL schedule for high-definition-produced games in 2003 will be announced in accordance with the start of the 2003-04 NBA and NHL seasons.

The network will also announce its MLB high-definition game schedule shortly. Among the games to be featured in Philadelphia will include the Philadelphia Phillies home opener -- the last to be played at Veterans Stadium - on April 4, 2003, pitting the Phillies against interstate rival, the Pittsburgh Pirates. In the Baltimore and Washington, DC area, the attached schedule features Michael Jordan's final regular-season home game in the NBA on April 14.

Through such production, sports fans in both markets with HDTV sets and converters can watch select games in high definition, which maximizes the picture and audio quality in a wide-screen, theater-like display resulting in a picture up to six times sharper than the standard analog television set.

"We set out on an aggressive schedule when we committed to high definition. We have scheduled nearly 50 percent of the NBA and NHL games available to us between the two markets to be produced in high definition. By doing this, we are trying to give fans a true offering of high-definition game coverage," said Jack Williams, president and CEO, Comcast SportsNet. "This schedule -- plus the anticipation of some thrilling postseason games -- offers our viewers in both markets a solid lineup of exciting matchups that will be made all the better with this dynamic new television technology."

Comcast SportsNet (www.comcastsportsnet.com) consists of two regional sports networks servicing the Philadelphia and Baltimore and Washington, DC markets. Together, the two networks reach over 7 million households in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, District of Columbia, Virginia, and West Virginia, and provide game coverage for the Philadelphia Flyers, Philadelphia 76ers, Philadelphia Phillies, Baltimore Orioles, Washington Capitals, Washington Wizards, as well as various minor league and collegiate game telecasts.
