Some codes are not preprogrammed into some remotes. For example, many HTiBs cannot be controlled by the "universal" remotes. You'll perhaps need to consider a programmable remote like the Harmony.

Most remotes have a "scan" feature which lets you try every code that's in the remote. I assume you've already tried that - usually takes a few minutes.

I read a post by someone claiming that the Element TV was made for or by Polaroid. I checked the code sheet for Polaroid code numbers and the TV did respond to that code. This particular TV was purchased at Circuit City on 7/17/07 :usa1: 32" LCD Element HDTV. The code that worked was 11523.
Hope that helps,

Hi,

I just bought a 22" element, haven't tried to program a universal remote yet.

BUT, when I bought my mom a 32" element, I tried and tried and tried to program the remote, FINALLY I called tech support and they informed me that Element TV's can't be programmed with any codes.

So I took it back to CC and got her a Vizio, which she's happy with.

If it was me, I'd live with it, but mom is 77 and can hardly understand one remote, let alone two.

Good luck.

Oh, and before anyone mentions it, I also got instructions with the set to use code 178 or call my cable provider, so I started with high hopes, but when I called Element they guy said they get a lot of calls about this, there's no hope.

If you find a way to make a universal remote work consider yourself god-like.

You may not be able to get a universal remote that comes with equipment to work, however, I can almost guarantee that the Harmony remotes I mentioned in post 2 will. Take one for a test drive on their website.

There are a couple of devices (out of many thousands) that they don't control, but I believe they're also listed on their site.

I have a 32" Element HDTV and found that the Samsung codes work - at least one (0205) works for me - on my Verizon FIOS remote. I tried the suggested 0178. 0129, and 0011 with no results and the Poloroid codes didn't work either. Now the TV works great. Got it at CC for $480 and using a $40 coupon the final cost was $440.

Based on that experience, I bought a 19" set for the bedroom and have tried every Samsung and Poloroid code with no results. The universal search didn't produce any results either except sore fingers! So it's going back to CC today.

Hope some of this information helps others.
