I have a Xbox 360 and I constantly switch between 1080i and 720p, to try and figure out which one looks better. It's incredibly difficult. They look really similar.

Well, I recently got the Elite System and it caused me to doubt my 720p setting and try 1080i.

It seems as if the 1080i setting looks a bit better, but everything i've read and heard says 1080i sucks.

What's the deal?

You would not have read that here much. Our feedback is that most HDTVs seem to prefer a 1080i signal, even the ones with native 720P displays. We always say to try both and use the one that YOU prefer.

I believe this is because most stations are 1080i and therefore the circuitry is designed to handle those channels well.

The only caveat is for TVs that "Bob" the signals from 1080i.
