Just purchased a Samsung LN-T5265F LCD and was wondering which Blu Ray player produces the best PQ for Blu Ray and upconversion for conventional DVDs when used with this TV. I've read that some Blu Ray players don't fully support 1080p and I'm a bit confused. Don't want to buy the wrong player. Thanks.

I own a PS3, and after the 1.8 firmware update I will say that it compares to the upconversion of the HDA2, which is outstanding. You can buy a PS3 for $499 while they are having their "fire sale" of the 60GB units. If you don't want a PS3, I would wait for some other responses regarding the upconversion of the Sony, Panasonic and Samsung players.

All BD players can support 1080p. What you might have read is that some will do 1080/60p while others also support 1080/24p. The upconversion question is a bit trickier to answer since it tends to be a bit more subjective to the viewer.

One thing to keep in mind. The new BD player video profiles 1.1 go into effect in late October. After this date all BD players manufactures will have to include mandatory hardware to support certain functions. That is not the case at present.

If you can't wait till then I’ve heard good things about the new Samsung BD-P1200 BD player. Do a search for some reviews on it.
